Consulting Partner to Federal Government Major Azure Migration Program NV1 Required
Our client is a specialist consulting and delivery partner supporting a major Australian Federal Government agency through a large scale Azure migration program. They are seeking a Cloud Networking & Security Domain Lead to provide technical authority, architectural leadership, and secure delivery oversight across all hybrid networking and cloud security components.
This is a senior, hands on leadership role shaping how a critical Government environment connects, protects, and transitions to Azure. You’ll work within a high performing consulting team, embedded alongside Government stakeholders, vendors, and integrators to deliver a secure, resilient hybrid environment.
The Opportunity
As the Cloud Networking & Security Domain Lead, you will guide the end to end networking and security architecture across on prem data centres, WAN environments, and Azure. You’ll ensure the migration program meets stringent Federal Government security, compliance, and operational requirements while enabling modern, scalable cloud connectivity.
This role requires an active NV1 security clearance.
What You’ll Lead
Hybrid & Data Centre Networking
Drive the design and uplift of hybrid connectivity across Government data centres and Azure, including:
- Cisco Nexus/ACI, Catalyst, fabric switching (leaf–spine, VXLAN, OTV)
- F5 load balancing
- Palo Alto / Fortinet / Cisco ASA/Firepower
- MPLS, SD?WAN, BGP, OSPF, WAN optimisation
- IP addressing, routing domains, DNS/DHCP, segmentation and zoning
Azure Cloud Networking
Architect and govern secure Azure networking patterns:
- VNets, VNet Peering, Virtual WAN
- ExpressRoute, VPN gateways
- Private Link, load balancing, service networking
- Azure Firewall, WAF, Application Gateway
Security Architecture & Compliance
Lead hybrid/cloud security design across:
- Zero trust, micro segmentation, encryption
- Identity boundaries and privileged access pathways
- Essential Eight maturity uplift
- IRAP, penetration testing, certification/accreditation
- SIEM/SOAR integration (e.g., Sentinel) and network security operations
Program Delivery & Leadership
- Provide governance and technical direction across the migration program
- Lead multi-vendor engineering teams and integrators
- Manage dependencies across cloud, network, identity, security, and application streams
- Oversee cutovers, runbooks, connectivity testing, and operational readiness
- Work closely with Government ICT teams, carriers, MSPs, and cloud vendors
- Communicate complex concepts to senior executives and engineering teams
- Contribute to architecture boards, change authorities, and security governance forums
What You Bring
Essential
- NV1 security clearance (Current or eligible to reactivate)
- Extensive experience delivering hybrid/cloud networking and security in Federal Government or regulated environments
- Deep hands on expertise with:
- Cisco routing/switching (Nexus, Catalyst, ACI)
- Enterprise firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point)
- F5 LTM/ASM
- MPLS, SD?WAN, BGP, OSPF
- DDoS protection and cross domain solutions
- Strong Azure networking/security experience:
- ExpressRoute, VNet Peering, Virtual WAN
- Azure Firewall, WAF, Application Gateway
- NSGs/ASGs, Private Link, DNS, load balancing
- Strong knowledge of ASD ISM, PSPF, IRAP, Essential Eight
- Proven leadership across complex, high security migration programs
- Excellent documentation and stakeholder communication
- Azure certifications (AZ700, AZ500, AZ305)
- Experience in Protected or classified environments
- Background in cross-domain security or secure enclave segmentation
- Multi-cloud or hybrid WAN experience
