Role Overview: A highly trusted Defence and national security partner is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Consultant to support complex, sensitive, and mission-critical programs across secure ICT environments. This role operates at the highest levels of government security, requiring an active Positive Vetting (PV) clearance and a proven ability to work within classified, high-assurance ecosystems.
You will provide expert cyber security guidance, assurance, and technical leadership across programs that directly contribute to Australia’s national security posture.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced cyber security risk assessments across highly classified systems, platforms, and mission environments
- Analyse and articulate complex threat scenarios, vulnerabilities, and security risks with clear operational and strategic impact
- Provide expert security advice to architects, engineers, program leads, and intelligence stakeholders
- Review and validate solution designs, architectures, and implementation approaches to ensure secure-by-design outcomes
- Develop and maintain high-quality security documentation, including risk assessments, threat models, security plans, and assurance reports
- Support compliance and accreditation activities aligned to PSPF, ISM, Defence security requirements, and intelligence-community frameworks
- Engage with multi-agency stakeholders to communicate risks, controls, and mitigation strategies in a clear, authoritative manner
- Contribute to the uplift of security governance, processes, and technical controls across complex program environments
- Support incident response, security investigations, and intelligence-driven security operations as required
- Provide strategic input into capability uplift, security architecture, and long-term security planning
- Active Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance (mandatory)
- Extensive experience in cyber security consulting, security engineering, or security assurance within Defence, national intelligence, or highly classified environments
- Deep understanding of security principles, threat modelling, and advanced adversary behaviours
- Strong knowledge of ISM, PSPF, Defence security frameworks, and intelligence community security requirements
- Experience conducting complex risk assessments, architecture reviews, and security design evaluations
- Ability to work autonomously in high-pressure, sensitive, and ambiguous environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to brief senior stakeholders, technical teams, and multi-agency partners
- Proven experience producing high?quality technical documentation in secure environments
- Background in security architecture, secure systems engineering, or advanced threat analysis
- Experience supporting accreditation, certification, or security authorisation processes
- Scripting or automation capability (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, GIAC, or equivalent
- Experience working within joint Defence–intelligence programs or multi?agency mission environments
