Lead Cyber Security Architect – EL2 36 Month Engagement – Canberra

A major federal organisation is modernising its technology foundations, uplifting cyber capability, and delivering large-scale transformation programs. We are seeking a Lead Cyber Security Architect (EL2 equivalent) to design secure-by-design environments across critical national systems.

This role is suited to a senior architect who can operate in complex environments, collaborate across diverse stakeholders, and contribute directly to national security outcomes.

The Work You will design and assure enterprise-grade security architectures across cloud, hybrid, network and monitoring domains. The role sits within a technology division responsible for enabling frontline operations, modern platforms, and emerging technology adoption.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing optimal security solutions for large transformation programs

  • Producing security architecture documentation and guiding approvals through governance forums

  • Providing expert cyber technical advice across business units

  • Building strong relationships across teams and partner organisations

  • Anticipating, communicating and resolving security issues across systems and services

  • Mentoring and coaching less experienced staff

  • Maintaining currency in modern security practices and contributing to improved ICT processes

Technical Capability Required

  • Enterprise security architecture and secure-by-design

  • Network security architecture

  • Cloud and hybrid security architecture

  • Security monitoring and observability

  • Security assurance, risk and compliance

Location and Conditions

  • Canberra-based (onsite primary location)

  • Flexible arrangements may be considered at the organisation’s discretion

  • 36 month initial term

  • Maximum hours: 7.5 per day
