A major secure operations environment is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to support the management, monitoring, and stability of critical gateway services. This role is ideal for early-career IT professionals or network engineers looking to broaden their experience across complex, high-availability environments.
You will work within a 24/7 operations centre, managing devices, resolving incidents, supporting customers, and ensuring the availability and security of gateway infrastructure. This includes hands on work with routers, firewalls, proxies, DNS, load balancers, and other core technologies.
The position operates on a rotating 12-hour day and night shift roster(similar to 5-on, 5-off: 2 days, 3 nights, 5 days off), offering excellent work/life balance and exposure to mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities: Gateway & Device Management
- Manage and maintain gateway infrastructure across multiple environments.
- Prepare, implement, and validate change requests in line with change management processes.
- Configure and support routers, firewalls, proxies, DNS servers, and load balancers.
- Monitor system health alerts and take appropriate action to maintain service availability.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose network traffic issues in collaboration with customers and internal teams.
- Resolve incidents in accordance with SLAs and operational procedures.
- Provide service desk–style support, including ticket allocation, prioritisation, and escalation.
- Respond to customer requests via email and phone, ensuring clear and timely communication.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support operational needs and information requests.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in IT/Networking or
one of the following:
- 1+ years’ experience in an IT, networking, or similar technical role
- 1+ years’ experience with Linux, DNS, firewalls, F5, VMware, proxies, or email gateway appliances
- Relevant industry certifications (Cisco, Check Point, Juniper, Palo Alto, Bluecoat, ITIL)
- 1+ years’ experience in an IT, networking, or similar technical role
- NV1 security clearance(mandatory)
- Willingness to work a 24/7 rotating shift roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
