Cyber Security Engineer
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to help design, build and enhance enterprise security monitoring, detection and response capabilities.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in strengthening security operations through the engineering and integration of modern security platforms, with a strong focus on Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender XDR, automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices.
Working closely with Security Operations, Cloud Engineering and Infrastructure teams, you will deliver scalable, automated and resilient security solutions that improve visibility, threat detection and incident response outcomes across the organisation.

What will you be doing?
- Engineer, administer and continuously improve security monitoring and detection platforms, including Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender XDR.
- Design and implement integrations across security technologies, cloud environments and enterprise systems.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform and Git-based deployment methodologies.
- Build and support CI/CD pipelines and GitOps processes to manage security platform deployments and configurations.
- Develop automation, orchestration and detection capabilities to improve operational efficiency and strengthen security outcomes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to onboard new data sources, expand telemetry coverage and enhance detection capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on security architecture, platform optimisation and industry best practices.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and platform standards.
Skills and experience required to succeed in this role?
Essential:
- Proven experience engineering and supporting Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender XDR within large enterprise environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Experience implementing and managing DevOps and GitOps workflows using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub.
- Strong knowledge of Azure security, cloud-native services, automation and security operations, with the ability to design and integrate enterprise security solutions.
- Experience with SOAR, Logic Apps and security automation technologies.
- Exposure to Microsoft Security Copilot and AI-enabled security operations.
Clearance required?
- NV1 Clearance or above.
